Veggie Grab Bag July 21, 2005

 

Strawberries ~ Local Homegrown Tomatoes ~ Local Fresh Lima Beans ~ Broccoli ~ Red Leaf Lettuce ~ Crimini Mushrooms ~ Green Onions ~ Sweet Yellow Belle Pepper ~ Pluot ~ Parsley ~ Caramel Sauce

 

A pluot is a cross between a plum and an apricot and is one of the best tasting things you have ever put into your mouth. Those of you who have been with us over the years know that I wait with baited breath for these every summer. Here they are – they are pricey and special so make sure they are good and ripe and sit yourself down and really enjoy this treat.

Use the caramel sauce to dip any fresh fruit in – the strawberries would be yummy!

For anyone who didn’t get a veggie share last week here’s how you do the lima beans:

 

Enjoy this special treat – they are another thing that you won’t see often

 

Green and onions and parsley can mean only one thing – TABOULI ! So get a tabouli kit and some garlic and lemons if you don’t have them from last week and make a batch of the best Tabouli you’ll ever eat. We don’t add tomatoes and cucumbers until serving, that way it will keep twice as long and won’t have old soggy veggies in it.
